Come one, come all to a night under the stars with a family flick on July 28 to help raise money for the Blackfalds field house.
The first free, outdoor movie night is being held at the All Star Park (4800 Leung Road) in Blackfalds. Donations are being accepted and all proceeds go to the field house project of the community.
“I’m really optimistic for this to be a yearly event,” said Carol Simpson, president of the Blackfalds Field House Society. “It’s a neat concept.”
A family-animated movie will be shown on a two-and-a-half story tall inflatable movie screen. The preshow begins at 9:30 p.m. and the movie will begin around 10 p.m.
Those planning to attend are asked to provide their own lawn chairs or blanket and if weather does not permit outdoor viewing, the event will be taken to the Blackfalds Multi-Plex.
Put on by Servus Credit Union, the Servus Night at the Movies, is one of many fundraisers for the field house project in Blackfalds.
The project needs $750,000 for the facility and in the society’s first year, $30,000 has already been raised.
The field house is still in the beginning stages of planning, however, Simpson said a development plan including operation and management of the facility is under way. The field house will belong to the Town of Blackfalds.
A timeline to begin construction is unknown.
